Harmful roof algae (Gleocapsa Magma) initially affected the West Coast, but as weather patterns change it’s been making its way across the States. Over the past several years we’ve been receiving more calls about roof cleaning in Northern VA and roof cleaning in Maryland.

Gloeocapsa Magma is most noticeable by dark staining on your shingles. It grows exponentially, so what may start as a small patch can spread dramatically. If you notice this staining, or any large deposits of leaves or organic matter, it’s likely time for a roof cleaning.

We take the utmost care to remove the organic matter and algae that harms your roof without causing undue damage ourselves. Standard methods of roof cleaning are much too harsh for shingles and other roofing styles. Roofing is built to withstand the elements. While nature can throw some nasty things at your roof, nothing can compare to high pressure water sprays or caustic chemicals. Roofing wasn’t meant to handle such abuse.

We use a unique non-caustic solution that attacks roof damaging algae without damaging your roof or surrounding vegetation. After saturating the roof with this cleaner, we rinse it clear with a low pressure power broom, and apply a sealant to prevent regrowth.
